I love this place!

Love this place, although it has a long and extensive menu. No matter, I seem to only ever order the chicken salad sandwich! I love it! The wife calls me an old man but generally, if there's a chicken salad sandwich on the menu, I'm gonna order it. Milton's has one of my fav's! Bring the kids, they get to draw on the butcher paper table cloths! Oh, and free pickles... KOSHER!

I love the veggie wraps!

Oh how I love thee veggie wraps. I am hooked! PDM has delicious & flavorful foodses. Their "salmon" sandwiches/wraps/salads are to die for (so I was told - repeatedly)! Fresh veggies are used on everything - you can tell by the crunchiness and the utter flavoric experience! The dressing they use for their wraps and sandwiches... YuMM-o! The soy dressing (on wraps) is much better than the mayo one they use on the sandwiches (I.M.O.). Gorgeous views of the ocean any time of the day (Disclaimer: night would be hard to see the ocean from here). The center this venue is on has bars you can hit up for an intimate cocktail or two.

I'd Certainly Return!

Went here for an impromptu lunch with clients. There were 9 of us - were seated quickly and given great service throughout the meal. It is not a big place but has a nice outside covered patio for extra dining. the place is really cute in atmosphere and the wine list looked great - though didn't try any as it was lunch. I liked the lunch menu - many different choices - from more typical French to some more contemporary choices. Only complaint was getting the food was a bit slow. The portions on the food (salmon dish, seabass dish) were huge! Wow - enough to take some home for later! I had the salmon with lentil salad and red pepper coulis - very tasty! I think it was $15.95. Salads were in the $13 to $15 dollar range. I'd certainly return.

Great Pastries!

Post museum time in Balboa Park, I could not wait to get out to a more quiet place and have a coffee and croissant (some sort of late breakfast) last Saturday. I thought that Gourmet on 5th was mostly about food and they would not have good quality coffee and pastries, but I was wrong! The pastries are fresh from the day (coming from a bakery in Hillcrest) and my capuccino was excellently prepared. I was also happily surprised to see one of my favorite waiters from Cardamom Cafe working now here, he was super friendly and remembered me (I guess must be my accent or the fact that I ask too many questions!). The soundtrack of my pleasant quiet time was a collection of nouveau French chanson. I loved it, very mellow, for some moments thought I was in some real French bistro (posters on the wall also helped). I need to come more often to try the food, but I enjoyed the simplicity of my warm croissant and coffee observing people passing by a sunny 5th Ave.

First Time at a French Restaurant!

My gf decided to take me to a restaurant we have not yet been to. He surprised me and took me to this place for my birthday. We both had never had French cuisine before so we were in for a treat! The place is quite small and intimate. This place seems like it doesn't attract younger crowds..much older people eating here. We started off with Escargots à la Bourguigonne. It was great, but too much butter for me. But that's what Frenches are all about! I ended up ordering the Braised Short Ribs with a Julienne of Vegetable and my bf the Lemon Chicken with Braising Greens. Both were SOOO delicious! I would definitely come here again, if I crave French food.
